The golden rule: last on, first off

Put your jewelry on after applying perfume, lotion, sunscreen, and makeup — and take it off first, before you shower, swim, sleep, or exercise.

Keep it dry

Avoid water, sweat, and humidity. Remove your pieces before washing your hands, swimming, or working out to protect the plating and stones.

Store it well

Keep each piece in a soft pouch or lined box, stored separately so chains don’t tangle and surfaces don’t scratch. A cool, dry place out of direct sunlight is ideal.

Clean gently

Wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to remove oils. Avoid chemical jewelry cleaners, harsh soaps, and abrasive cloths, which can wear down gold-toned finishes.

Handle with care

Pearls and natural stones are delicate — avoid knocks and drops, and never soak them in water or cleaning solution.
